THE PROGRAM

Given the absence of a consistent and codified set of best practices for foragers of ramps (wild leeks), the Institute for Sustainable Foraging (ISF) is pioneering an effort to establish such practices and standards along with a means to certify parties that have elected to abide by them. This is the story behind our “Certified Sustainably Foraged” seal.

If a foraging entity (whether an individual or a company comprised of or employing multiple foragers) elects to abide by the standards set forth by the Institute, and consents to periodic third-party audits to verify their compliance with those standards, they can obtain certification from the ISF. This certification carries with it official permission to use the Institute’s “Certified Sustainably Foraged” seal.
